Frameless shower doors

Sliding doors, swinging doors, corner enclosures, fixed panels and steam showers in 3/8″ or 1/2″ tempered safety glass. Measured in your bathroom, made to size and installed by our own crew.

Shower door layouts

The right layout depends on your opening, your shower base and the space around the door. We check all three at the free estimate.

Sliding glass shower door on exposed black rollers over a tub

Sliding shower doors

The door rolls along a bar beside a fixed panel, so nothing swings out into the bathroom.

Works well for
Bathrooms where a vanity, toilet or tub leaves no room for a door to swing.
What we check
The opening width, where the fixed panel sits and how wide the entry is with the door open.
Frameless swinging door beside an inline glass panel with brass handle

Swinging and inline doors

A hinged or pivot door on its own, or set in line with fixed glass panels across the opening.

Works well for
Openings with enough room outside the shower for the door to swing comfortably.
What we check
Nearby vanities, toilets and towel bars, and the clearance you need to step in and out.
Neo-angle glass shower enclosure in a tiled corner

Neo-angle enclosures

Angled panels and a door that follow the shape of a corner shower base.

Works well for
Corner showers with an angled front instead of a straight opening.
What we check
The shape of the base, the corner angles and the room around the angled entry.
Corner enclosure with tall fixed glass panels and black hardware

Fixed panels

A fixed glass panel with an open entry and no door at all.

Works well for
Walk-in showers where the shower head points away from the opening.
What we check
The spray direction, the panel width and the open space beside the panel, so water stays inside.
Floor-to-ceiling glass shower enclosure with a door and transom

Steam showers

Floor-to-ceiling glass with a transom above the door, closing the shower in completely.

Works well for
Bathrooms being built or remodeled around a steam system.
What we check
The finished ceiling height, the transom layout and what the steam system needs from the glass.
Four frameless glass shower doors in a row: Starphire, clear, rain and satin etched glass

Four kinds of shower glass, side by side.

Every door we install is 3/8″ or 1/2″ tempered safety glass. The type of glass decides how clear it looks and how much of the shower it hides.

  1. Satin Etch

Acid-etched on one side for an even frosted look. Light comes through, the view doesn’t, and water spots are harder to see.

  2. Rain

A pressed texture that looks like falling water. It blurs what’s behind it and keeps the shower bright.

  3. Clear

Standard clear glass shows off your tile. Look at the edge and you’ll see a slight green tint from the iron in the glass.

  4. Starphire

Low-iron glass with most of that green taken out. Whites stay white, and the edge reads almost colorless.

  • Starphire
  • Clear
  • Rain
  • Satin Etch

All four come in 3/8″ and 1/2″ thickness. Not sure which suits your bathroom? We’ll talk it through at the estimate.

Hardware built to last as long as the shower.

A shower door is opened and closed every day for years. The hardware holding it decides whether it still swings and closes the way it did on day one. Here’s one of our hinges, taken apart.

Solid brass under the finish

This hinge is solid brass, not plated steel, so a wet bathroom can’t rust it from the inside. A pair is rated to carry a door of up to 110 lb, heavier than a typical 1/2″ glass door.

Fitted so the door stays put

A gasket keeps metal off the glass, and the wall plate is screwed through the tile into the wall. The hinge clamps through a notch that’s cut before the glass is tempered, so the door stays level and closes the same way for years.

Seven finishes

Chrome

Bright and mirror-like, the classic match for chrome faucets and shower heads. Water spots show more than on the satin finishes.

Hinges, handles and clamps come in all seven, so every piece on the door matches.

How a project works

One team handles your job from the first visit to the last adjustment. Showers, closets and mirrors all follow the same four steps.

  1. Finished frameless shower with matte black hinges and handle in a white bathroom
Glass and hardware get chosen at this visit. This one has matte black hinges and handle.

    Free estimate at your home

We come to you, look at the space and talk through the layout, the glass and the hardware finish. Bring photos or ideas if you have them. The visit and the written estimate are free, with no obligation.

  2. Open room with the floor covered and tape lines marking where the glass will go
An opening taped out and covered, ready for glass.

    Laser measure

Once the tile and walls are finished, we measure the opening with a laser. Walls are rarely perfectly straight, so the glass is sized to the room as it was built, not to the drawings.

  3. Clear glass sample with a polished, slightly green edge
Clear glass has a slight green edge. Starphire doesn’t.

    Fabrication

After you approve the estimate, we make your glass to size in 3/8″ or 1/2″ tempered safety glass: cut, edges polished, and holes drilled for the hinges and handle you picked.

  4. Two Galaxy Glass installers on ladders setting a tall glass panel with suction lifters
Our installers setting a tall glass panel with suction lifters.

    Installation

Our own installers fit the glass, adjust the door until it swings and closes cleanly, and show you how to care for the glass and hardware before they leave.

How much does a frameless shower door cost?

It depends on the size of the opening, the layout, the glass and the hardware. Rather than quote a range that may not fit your bathroom, we measure and give you an exact written price at the free estimate.

Can you replace my old framed door?

Yes. Frameless glass is a common upgrade for an old framed door or a shower curtain. At the free estimate we look at the opening and the tile around the old frame and tell you what the new glass needs.

Do you do tub-to-shower conversions?

We install the glass for them. Once the tub is out and the new shower is tiled, we measure the finished opening and fit the door or panels.

How thick is the glass?

We use 3/8″ (about 10 mm) and 1/2″ (about 12 mm) tempered safety glass and recommend the thickness that suits the size of your panels and door.

I’m remodeling. When should you measure?

Call us while you’re planning so we can talk through the layout early. The final measurement happens after the tile and walls are finished, because the glass has to fit the finished surfaces.

Is there a coating that makes cleaning easier?

Water-repellent coatings are available. We’ll go over the options and how to care for the glass when you choose it.
